Capital Cities Live in Manila

January 11, 2014. WOW.  Okay, wait. First of all. I'm one of the admins of Capital Cities PH. It's just a small street team with big passion in music. So anyway, my co-admin (Dr. Jongken) and I went to Glorietta early because we don't want to miss out the first 100 album buyers for the album signing after the show. We also bought CD's for our friends because they wont make it in the morning. The show was at 7pm and we were there already at 10am. The problem is...what.the.fuck.are.we.gonna.do.for.9.freaking.hours.....

We went to starbucks instead and spent the next 4 hours there. We also met a Capital Cities fan we met on our twitter, hi Josh! When our other friends arrived, we decided to buy some shirt from Kultura for the guys, while the others worked on our sign boards.

We also wrote notes of endearment to every paper bag for the boys. Aren't we the sweetest?

After the artsy fatsy, we lined up. One of our friend (Jam Dickiedick) didn't reach the first 100 album buyers, we were sad for her. So when we went inside already she was just at the barricade, and oh my heart I dont know what to do. Then out of nowhere a guy came up to her and gave her a ticket! That guy is the coolest! She ran inside and immediately thank sir whoever. Now that the gang is complete we knew Capital Cities is ready too, they were just waiting for my friend to come inside. Haha!

And then the biggest party started!

My friends and I were really dancing and singing to every song!

Damn Spencer.

It was the awesomest party ever!

You know when a party is still fun and worth it even tho there's no booze??? It's the Capital Cities concert!!

Sad that only few people know their other songs. My friends and I are the only hyper ones at the back dancing and screaming at each other. Deep inside we wish we were in front, cause I swear the crowd there was dead. LOL. The whole crowd just went wild when they played Safe and Sound *my friends and I are wild the whole time*

Sebu asked us to wave something in the air, it was soooo fun! We stood in the chairs and danced! When I hear Safe and Sound somewhere my feet are aching to dance already. Btw, no one knows how to dance in our group so whatever we just kicked it off because who cares we were having so much fun!

After the party, I mean concert. Album signing time! We gave them our gifts, and they signed our sign boards.

I asked them to give me something from their pocket, I don't why I thought of that but it was an awesome idea. So Sebu gave me the cap of the his marker haha! and Manuel and Ryan gave me his guitar pick.

It didn't end there though, we stalked them in their hotel. Hehehehe we were waiting in the lobby, looking for some signs if they were really there. And then Jongken remembered that Spencer Ludwig (my baby Spenc) follows us on twitter, so he DM'ed him and yes! He DM'ed back! He said he'll be down in 10 minutes because he'll be DJ-ing in a club.

Whoaa there! He even invited us, but because all of us are still under age (mentally) we didn't go.

Stalking totally worth it! Thank you MMI for bringing Capital Cities! and to my friends for the nth time for being the coolest and awesomest ever, see you on the next MMI event!

Tegan and Sara Live in Manila

TEGAN AND SARA LIVE IN MANILA 11/25/13

Hello there, I'm going to be honest here. I'm a new fan of Tegan and Sara! I just know the songs from their new album Heartthrob. And their past albums, none. But I love them! And I can say I'm a fan already. I've been listening non-stop to their album ever since a friend posted Closer on our group on facebook. I dont have the time to delve in with their past albums too, and I regretted it, cause when I heard some for the first time I fell in love with it.

I'm a big fan of other bands too, and one of them is Two Door Cinema Club (TDCC). I literally peed my pants when they announced their concert here in Manila. But it also chopped my heart in half. Tegan and Sara was on November 25, and guess what, TDCC's concert day dropped on the 26th. The problem is, I can't afford two concerts! Well I might have, with just a little push, but the dates!! the DATES! that's the major problem. If it's two months away it's possible, but back to back concert days? Just no.

So I weighed my options.. and I chose TDCC. I was so sad to let go of Tegan and Sara. So I didn't give up there, I promise that I would join every ticket contest there is just to see them live.

November came and I became really anxiously excited about the up coming concerts. Then one day when I was riding the FX on my way home I got a text from a friend, "TANGINA!! CANCELLED TDCC!!" a tear was preparing to escape from my eye the moment I read it, but I held it in because I was in public. Deep inside though, I was laughing LOL the text was funny. But crying too, because I've waited so long for TDCC, and even invested my food budget for the ticket. And... poof it's just gone..

I lost interest in everything after that, but I told myself, do i really need to pull myself down when there are options to move on. So like I promised to Tegan and Sara, I joined contests to win tickets. I don't want to buy my TDCC money for the ticket too because my sister can't come with me anyway, and it just seemed wrong.. LOL. I was so bitter I didnt even go to Tegan and Sara's album signing, and that I regretted A LOT.
I was so jealous of all their pictures and I was a total shit for wanting to be sad more.

Then the unexpected happened! Odyssey told me I won 3 silver tickets!! THREE!

I bought a TnS shirt from the Teks Pabuayon when I got there just to feel legit about all of it. And then the concert....

Front act! Up Dharma Down! Seen them thrice in 2013, and I will never get enough of this awesome band!

Tegan and Sara!!!

Deaz and Randolph enjoying the show!

My sister and I (wearing my TNS shirt) after the concert.

It was an awesome concert! Just sad that the next night should have been TDCC's concert :( the next days hurt so much! I got PCD from Tegan and Sara and pure depression from TDCC. Haha But still, it was fun! Thank you so much for the free tickets Odyssey!

My Wanderland 2013 Kaleidoscope.

Wanderland Music and Arts Festival 2013 is the highlight of my summer. After the concert, my mind has been in a total disaster of feelings and longing for that night. I'm not over acting here. Just imagine what state you're going to be in after you've just touched Tyler Glenn's hand, danced with the crowd, met crazy people you now call friends, seen Sweet Disposition live (just throwing things that gets in my mind here). It's just... just. It's not just the memories that drives me cray, but also the small things I've got to take home. So I made a list of objects that make me look back that night at Makati Circuit Events Grounds.  Well not all of them are animate things.. okay here it goes.

These are the things that tics the toc of my Wanderland clock.

1. @NeonTreesPH

Yep, I'm one of the admins of @NeonTreesPh on twitter. This little project of ours will always be a reminder of Wanderland for us. The first day we made this account. 2 cool things happened: 1. Neon Trees' verified account followed us. 2. Karpos Multimedia Inc. announced the line-up. You should have seen the kiligs on our faces that day.

2. Ticket

I was never never sure that I'll be making it on the 18th. So without a ticket the event is still a blur for me. It's my Classic Express admission to my spectacular summer yet, and I wouldn't be writing this now if hadn't bought any. O hail VIP ticket.

3. Albums

My signed albums of Neon Trees and Colour Coding! When I got home after the album signing I always stare at it, and damn woman I'm holding precious gems here. Check out the full story here here http://deannacruz.blogspot.com/2013/05/album-signing-wanderland-2013.html

4. Email Notification

So they misspelled my name but that's fine. So it says to print it and show it on the day of the concert. So yeah, print print print, show show show, MEET MEET MEET!! WHOOAA I HUGGED THEM AGAIN FOR THE 3RD TIME! BOY WAS I LUCKY. I EVEN GOT TO HOLD TYLER'S HAND. AND BRANDEN GAVE ME HIS GUITAR PICK. AND I WAS JUMPING UP AND DOWN AND HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL. AND ELAINE AND CHRIS ARE JUST SO ADORABLE. AND AND I WISHED IT DIDN'T HAVE TO END. UGH

5. Wristband

The super cute neon-pink wristbands for VIP holders is now residing in my concert memorabilia box. Like I said, only VIP holders have this, so it reminds me of all those VIP perks at the venue. Free magnum, iced tea, slide, etc. My first dilemma when I got home: How the hell will I remove this from my pale hand without ripping it apart?

6. Signed Guitar Pick and Drum Stick.

Drum Stick-
We all know that the word "wild" to describe Neon Trees' performance is overrated already. Because of the moving crowd never did I expect that I'll be in possession of Elaine's drum stick. When she threw it in the air, my vision was in slow motion and I instantly accepted that it's not for me, but I raised my hands still, who knows right. So out of nowhere, it popped out of my right hand! And like Zeus holding his lightning bolt I raised my hand higher and screamed in a way that would turn off boys.

Guitar Pick-

During M&G backstage: Non- verbatim

Branden: Hey I got something for you!

Me: ((In my head)) Is it your love?
*then he gave me his pick!!!!! OHMYBGSGSTDSTYS*

did I mention that Branden's such a hugger?

7. Fans

Thanks to my fans! Literally fan, foldable fans actually. Thank you again for somehow keeping us alive by serving us with fresh air after we all perspired from the day's hype. Mind you but my yellow fan have been into Bloc Party and the Script's concert. And now both of my fans got to be at Wanderland! I have to confine the white one though, the inks are all smudged making it look dirty. So I guess the spirit of Wanderland will forever stay by his side.

8. Photos

Is it really necessary for me to explain...

With Branden Campbell of Neon Trees. He signed the guitar pick!

why these photos....
With Dougy Mandagi of Temper Trap

kickstart Wanderland memories..
With Natalie Foster of Tully on Tully

Every effin..
With Armie Millare and my sister.

time I see them.... *sigh*

With Tim Cammaunder and Chris Holland of Colour Coding.

9. Friends!!!!

Thanks to my friends for taking the photos above! Haha No really thanks to Randolph's camera and LG for taking the photos. And Esha for my picture with Branden. That day wouldn't be so fun without you guys! Best concert buddies so far! We should hang out again some time. Lalalalalove you Chesca, LG, Randolph, Esha, Jam, Nadine, and Regis! and Deaz.

10. Songs

The best part about concerts is when it's all over and you found yourself listenin to the songs again, it's different. The feeling is charged with this baffling feeling of whateverness. And it's just frustrating that I can't go back to that night! I believe that everyone in that concert has this big amount of resiliency in our body because if we don't' we'll all be crazy by now. My point is, when I start hearing Sweet Disposition anywhere, I don't remember 500 Days of Summer anymore. Or with Perfect by Colour Coding, FTP live in Manila doesn't pop in my mind nowadays ((I started listening to them last October so..)) and with 1983 by Neon Trees, the memories of my uncle and I fangirling about 80's and 90's videos doesn't snap out of me anymore.  Same with the songs of Tully and Tully, Nada Surf, She's Only Sixteen, Up Dharma Down, Yolanda Moon. The songs' fuse all spark back to Wanderland. And this playlist by Wanderland is really killing me. Dare to listen? click ->  R.I.P.

Oh and uhmm.. my crappy video of Animal.

So how about you?! What did you take home? :)
